More than 1,200 vessels call the Port of Buenaventura each year - exporting coffee, sugar, wood, gold, and platinum. Buenaventura receives oil by pipeline from Puerto Berrio, and it is served by the Puerto Berrio-Popayan railroad. Further north, the Port of Cartagena is home to sugar and tobacco processors and to manufacturers of cosmetics, fertilizer, textiles, and leather goods. Each year the port hosts almost 1600 vessels exporting petroleum, manufactured goods, coffee, and coal.
