Dan-Bunkering and SABT continue the industry consolidation by merging companies.

01-04-2022

Merging the global competencies of Dan-Bunkering with the specialized know-how of the African bunkering markets that South African Bunkering and Trading (SABT) has acquired through many years of operation, will provide strong synergies between the companies and their clients.

Joining forces between the world-wide bunker company Dan-Bunkering and the African bunkering specialist SABT, Dan-Bunkering will for the first time be able to expand into Africa with a physical presence.

Over the last decade, SABT has both positioned itself as the expert in bunkering throughout the African continent as well as being the preferred outlet for many of the local suppliers.

As the companies merge on the 1st of May, they will be unified under the well-known Dan-Bunkering brand. Combining and establishing SABT and Dan-Bunkering under one roof solidifies Dan-Bunkering’s position in the global market.

Managing Director of SABT, Jon Hughes is looking forward to the merger.

“With the merger between our companies we will be able to draw on a global presence, scaling our business and further developing our value proposition towards clients and suppliers,” says Jon Hughes.

Even though Dan-Bunkering has been servicing clients in Africa for decades, the merging of SABT under the Dan-Bunkering brand marks the first time Dan-Bunkering will be able to service clients through a local office. The SABT merger with Dan-Bunkering comes less than a year after LQM merged into Dan-Bunkering, strengthening the company’s position in the US, also adding further local offices to the global bunker trading company.

This continued growth-journey of Dan-Bunkering underlines the ongoing consolidation of the bunkering industry, emphasizing the need for robust and professional organizations, in a complex world.

Worldwide available with local offices in Africa

Dan-Bunkering boasts physical offices in 11 worldwide locations including Copenhagen, Shanghai, Houston, Sydney and now Cape Town with more than 80 traders and a proven record of being at the forefront of the industry adding value to suppliers and clients at over 3000 bunker locations. Now also adding the additional SABT offices to their availability.

“We are proud that SABT is partnering up with Dan-Bunkering. The synergies of joining Dan-Bunkering’s more than 40 years of global experience to the locally anchored expertise of SABT in Africa is what’s essential to Dan-Bunkering and creates the foundation for continued growth. I look forward to getting started on this next chapter of our journey together,” says Claus Bulch Klausen, CEO of Dan-Bunkering.

The SABT office in Cape Town holds 20 employees who all will remain within the new, unified company, ensuring a smooth transition and providing familiar faces to all clients and suppliers.

SABT transitions into the Dan-Bunkering brand as of 1st May 2022.
